Whats up with turning on a sports network and finding a poker playing competition… And OLN has bullriding EVERY night… How come Bill Dance can’t afford a new hat? Is there anything more redundant than the professional redfish tour?..yawn… More time to tie and read, thanks…
Please tell me one of them involves Harold’s models!!!
LOL!!! D. Yeah!!!
Spelling and Grammar not subject to judgement…
Nothing Wrong With Bullridin"! I love that sport. The Bulls always win in one way or another. I look forward to PBR more than I do any fishing show-that’s for sure.
Don’t miss the event finals today live from Kansas City MO 8 PM EDST!!
Look for a pull in the short go named “High Tide”. He is a great animal.
Get R Done
Hey Bullriding is great to watch, just seems every night is a bit much…
JC,
I REFUSE to ask what he busted that turned him into a clown!
FAOL involved with fishing shows? That would be great!
I like bullriding too, but it IS on too much. I agree about poker…it is very popular, but on OLN?
Backbeach…If you turn it on early enough, it’s infomercials! You can buy insoles that make it impossible to fall over!

What I would love to see is a fishing show with regular fishermen/women fishing and a decent local guide helping them with their techique and their catching. It would be travelling to the many places we all fish and would help promote good fishing technique, etiquite and conservation. No super stars, only us plain folk and some good wisdom.

jed, i think that is the direction in which they are heading, if i’m not mistaken. you should be v.p. of programming!
and Benjo and his mule are going to be on the PBR…keep watching…
JC, Like minds travel in the same gutter. It may even get me to set up a TV in my house.

Stop it you guys…It hurts to laugh so much so early in the day!
Y’all sound rather spunky after Fathers Day.
Hmmm…

One of the best Fly Fishing Shows on TV was Fly Fish TV. But for some reason OLN chose not to renew. No hype. Just fly fishing and tying.
I for one would like to see more warm water fly fishing on these shows. And not just smallmouth. Don’t get me wrong it’s my favorite fish, but what about fly fishing for blue gills? Hook a 9" gill on a 3wt and what a hoot that is.
At least the bull’s won’t tell you the “tip of the week”- use XXXX brand fishin’ widget!
alright! We get to see the Hardy girl fishing! woohoo!
Adave,
They had a show on one day that showed float tubers catching “lunker” gills…5 minutes into it they panned to another show (somethin’ like a tractor pull) & I was PO’D!! It wasn’t OLN, but you are right…gills on light tackle do not get the press they deserve.
Mike
I just hope the FAOL shows actually get you into the details. Like what fly they are using, how they are using it, and why. I have seen so many fish on TV called “the prettiest” or the “best fighting” that those kind of shows are a bore. Now show me the size 16 PMD emerger the guide has selected, and told why the fly was selected and how to fish it, that would be interesting. Show me the water being fished, perhaps a little history, show me the surrounding scenery, and show me the fish. Seems most shows are long commercials with a little fishing in between product plugs.
But most of all, tell me when the FAOL shows are on. And if you need someone to fish in front of a camera, I can offer my services free of charge!
Have fun, Jeff
Jeff, what you are asking for is exactly what the New Fly Fisher TV show does and is!
It’s now co-sponsored by FFF and is FREE to your local PBS TV station.

I had a great phone conversation with JC & LF not very long ago. One of the things I brought up was that MOST of us on this board (especially me!) are really “average” flyfishers at best. Understand that we have over 6,000 members here, and, no matter who we are & WHERE we are in our skill levels, we can & WILL learn…sometimes even from guys like me, who aren’t “schooled” enough to live & die by “the rules”…many times the best “out of the box” thinkers are the truly ignorant!..You know, the one who says, “Why won’t THIS work?” THAT would be neat to see/watch/experience.
Mike
Ladyfisher is right the show on PBS is quite good. Any weekend I am not fishing Sunday morning at 7:30 AM here in Seattle I get up and watch it. I really like the fly tying parts of the show the best. I would like them to explain catch and release a little more once in awhile in case any people new to the sport or thinking about taking it up could learn from it. I would also love to see them show some fly fishing for things other then trout more often. They did have one on fishing for small mouth and I really liked that. I would love to see them do some on rockfish on a fly or other saltwater flyrod action but still keeping the same format including showing a fly tied used for the trip.
As for the Bass fishing shows. I would guess they are the same junk that was on 5 years ago when I gave up cable TV because all those stations any more have is junk for the most part and it was not worth my $35 per month.
PBS. One of the few places left on the dial with anything worth watching. No I do not work for them.
hikepat - don’t give up on the New Fly Fisherman, our own Dr. Fish is doing some saltwater segments for them
