I have been known to poke myself from time to time but this one was new to me. One quick turn with my hand in the wrong place was all it took. The worst part was trying to get the hook point back through the skin. Bent up the hook trying to do so. Not that it mattered because I was going to clip the point off anyway. I really thought I was going to have to take a trip to the ER but I finally found the strength to take care of business.
If you would have had some help they could have held the eye down against your skin and put a piece of line under the hook and pulled rearward sharply, it would have come out. Nice job on the hook up. Been there done that.
The biggest reason I sacrifice the barb to the vise before I tie…
Good on you for taking care of business!!

I forgot about the pull it backwards with string method. If/when there is a next time I might have to use that. Seem to have some bruising around the area today but no swelling or anything else.
When is the last time you had a tetanus shot? It it’s been several years you may want to make a doctors appointment.
OUCHIE!!

It hurts just to look. Looks like you set that one pretty good.
I know for a fact they go in easier than they come out. I used a smaller hook last time and let the MD take it out the next day, the deadening shot hurt like the dickens but I could not manage getting it out myself.
The string trick works really well. I had to use it on my friends wife who is the biggest baby I know. I told her on three. One, two, and pulled when she wasn’t expecting and she never even felt it.
