OT -Deployed Troop Care packages

Somebody recerntly posted looking for ideas for care packages to deployed service people. I checked with a twice deployed Marine son and here’s his response.

Hey Dad,
There are a lot of good things to send guys over there. A lot of the time people will just send toothpaste and toiletries. Of course if this person probably knows what their son likes and dislikes but here are a few tips:

beef jerky
top ramen
tuna (in vacum sealed packets)
People magazine, keeps us up to date on important stuff
chewing gum
gatorade mix
kool aid mix (make sure sugar is included)
socks
beef jerky (on twice because it’s gold)
dvd’s
quick read books.

I sent my Army Brother an M9 bayonet. He told me that he wasn’t issued one. I fear for the other side who ever sees him fix that thing to his M4.

We are scheduled to fish the Provo sometime in '09, when we are both come back from our deployments. I’ve already made a 5/6 fly rod for him. Very cool mil. colors on the wrappings-gold/green/black.

Yeah, and send gum. Everybody seems to want gum.
