Ostermann's RDH Sedge SBS

Similar to the RDH Stone with a Henry’s Fork Hopper body and optional legs. Tied as an October Caddis; if the fires haven’t shut down all the rivers up here over the next few weeks, may give it a try, in addition to foam stuff.

hook - Dai Riki 280 #10
thread/rib - UTC 140 burnt orange
abdomen/wing/hackle - deer hair dyed orange
legs - medium rubber orange

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark; wrap to bend and back

clean, stack, trim tips on a clump of deer hair; tie in by tip with a couple loose wraps, allowing the hair to encircle the shank

wrap to point above barb

pull butts forward, encircling shank, spiral rib back to tie in; tie off/trim butts

clean, stack, measure (tips gap width past bend) a clump of deer hair; tie in/trim butts

tie in legs

Part 2

create thread loop, wax

clean, stack a clump of deer hair, insert in clip, trim butts; insert clip in loop, adjust tips (should be about 1 1/2 x gap width), spin

stroke fibers back, wrap hackle, tie off, whip finish, SHHAN

trim legs, trim out hackle underneath
