Anybody out there have an Orvis Frequent Flyer Rod? If so, how do you like it?Anybody have problems with one?
i’ve cast them and thought they were pretty good. that being said, i’d look at the ll bean multi piece because you’d get a guarantee (orvis doesn’t give one).
WOW! I can’t believe I read that. Orvis doesn’t give a guarantee on them? They’re the ones who started the whole mess. WOW!

no guarantee on the frequent flier or the streamlight, and that’s why they are pretty inexpensive.
Where did you see that Orvis doesn’t offer a guarantee? Their website says that they have a 100% money back guarantee on ALL of their products. Maybe I’m missing something. I’m looking at the Frequent Flyer as my first travel rod, so if their guarantee doesn’t include those rods, I may have to look elsewhere.
from p. 22 Fall 2005 catalog: “Guaranteed only against defects in materials and workmanship.” No timeline mentioned.
Check this out. Their catalog mentions their new Zero Gravity rods, but they haven’t updated their website yet.

I think the warranty is on all rods made in Manchester but not those made off shore.
At least my Clearwater’s covered.
you are absolutely right, evil dave.
The Frequent Flyer and Streamline do not have the 25 year warranty;just materials and workmanship, they are the entry level “Made in China’s”. All other rods are made in Manchester and they don’t give you any crap about repair or replacement.
I purchased an old Silver Label and found a crack in the wrap finish. Called Orvis, they gave me a repair number, repaired it, NO CHARGE. I wasn’t the original owner and it was discontinued in 1999! Go figure…
My buddy broke a Silver Label he’s had for years. Sent it back for repair…they sent him a new ProGuide! Go figure…
Now, John 3:16…don’t get a Frequent Flyer they are stiff and hingy (if that’s a word, you know, you can feel them hinging in the casting stroke).
You have Cabela’s Stowaway7, LL Bean, et al.
Tight lines…Jim
