Well, the rod that Orvis gave me arrived yesterday after a long wait because of the Holidays. It is a 7’9" Superfine 1-1/2 oz. with a Battenkill reel with backing and line. They gave me this outfit because of a thread I had started on another forum. I think while my wife and Grand-daughter are fooling around in the kitchen today, I will be out fishing with the new outfit.
Sounds like a plan to me. Now, if I can get the Seal of Approval from the wife.

Sound like you have been too helpful around the house lately. I’ll have to give you details all how to get under foot then your wife will be happy for you to go fishing.
The wife was more than happy to let me go fishing, no argument. Caught one fish and lost it, I didn’t even get a chance to see what type of trout it was. I was fishing a brown zebra midge pattern in size 20 and must have pulled to hard. Oh well, atleast I wet some line. That Orvis rod is the best casting rod I have ever casted. I didn’t even care that I wasn’t catching anything. Now I have two of these exact rods, in the same wt. same length and everything. Woohoo!
Congrats on the new Orvis rod! In my experience, the folks at Orvis have always been great to deal with, and their Superfine series has long been a favorite of yours truly. The Superfine rods represent many of the attributes that should be found on any good rod– easy to cast, responsive and an absolute joy with which to fish. I hope that you build a long history astream with that rod.
Now… if you’re looking for a home for the other…??? Just kidding, my friend! Enjoy… You’ve got enough on your plate already… Jerry, aka hairwing530, aka “Santa Hooks”-- (yes, I’m still working after the holidays!!)
I have a daughter with cancer and returned my rod for the gift card(no proof of purchase)and was selling the gift card. Someone from Orvis saw why I returned my rod and offered to send me a rod. It was just happen stance.
