Online Back Orders

I usually try to be pretty positive but I just got another - repeat ANOTHER e-mail stating the shipment of my order has been postponed once again

I have two online purchases that have been back ordered now for over a month. The first I somewhat expected - the page did say the supply was limited so I can’t complain too much except I have emailed requesting an ETA and have not recieved a single response. I guess they just don’t care.

The second is an order that stated on the page that there were 8 “In Stock”. As soon as I entered my order they sent a shipping date a week and a half out. I immediately knew the 8 “In Stock” was a total lie. Today I received the THIRD postponement of the shipping date!

The problem is the items ordered are not carried by any of the local shops so online was my only choice. At least they don’t debit the credit card until the item is shipped.

Who is the company?

i no longer believe online flyshops when the say “in stock”

j stockard boasts

J. Stockard Fly Fishing delivers 1000?s of fly tying materials & tools, rod building kits, supplies & equipment and top brands of fly line. We?re fast, affordable & easy!”

then why dont you send me my entire order as i ordered it or tell me in an email that some items are back ordered!

and dont get me started with Hook & Hackle!

Just hope it wasn’t shipped “Shipped Via: Economy (Cont US)”. Six days from Connecticut and it still hasn’t arrived in Indianapolis! Apparently “economy” implies “slow”?

I just think back to the days when 6 to 8 weeks was standard and you had to send a check before they would even begin to ship your order (this is pre-internet for you youngsters out there) and that helps bring my blood pressure back to a more normal level.

I hate back orders as well. But keep in mind, it could be a case of the manufacturer holding the store hostage by not being able to fill orders. Happens alot.

LadyFisher,

Sorry, I don’t believe in bashing over the internet. One company does state the item I ordered is in limited supply so I can’t complain too much. The other was an order through Amazon.com from one of their “Highly Rated Suppliers”. Well obviously this highly rated supplier does not keep Amazon appraised of their inventory too well. I assumed that “In Stock” was truthful. That was naive on my part - now the company is hostage to their supplier. They have blown it and likely deserve to be bashed. I just believe in allowing them to redeem themselves. I have had reputable dealers prove their character in the way they correct their mistakes. I will wait to see what happens and then inform Amazon of my dissatisfaction - if that proves to be the outcome.

It is just frustrating and VERY NICE to have a sound board to vent in. I thank you.

Bluegill222,

I remember those days - you sent the check in with the order form. When the check was cashed you knew they recieved the order. Then you forgot you had ordered it until it’s arrival actually surprised you !!! Yep! those were the good old days!
