One seldom mentioned problem with Catch and Release

Bubba gump shrimp. Time for lunch!

 To quote Richard Prior, " You don’t get old being a fool, hmpfff".

You don’t get old setting yourelf on FIRE either!

I’ve heard theories that are the exact opposite of what your saying. Wasn’t the theory at one time that if you caught a fish and let it go it would educate that “stupid” fish and therefore would make it harder to catch? I think a lot of people fishing in heavily pressured catch and release streams and rivers would disagree with your theory. I don’t know how many times I’ve read about how fish in the old days were easier to catch because there wasn’t so much fishing pressure and alot of anglers didn’t practice catch and release. I believe you are over thinking this a little. Oh and I suppose the stream I fish with native brook trout in it should be stocked with a smarter hatchery raised fish becuase we all know how stupid brookies are.
Turk

I din’t know brook trout were stupid. I just thought they liked to have too many babies.
Doug :?:

Ok Dshock, that brought a huge fit of laughter…thank you !

I thought this post kinda went both directions. Started off stating that he could only catch Dumb fish, then the post kinda went toward the fly fishermen intelligence.
Stupid, smart fish…that is why they call it fishing and not “CATCHING” 8)

They must be, I catch a lot of them.

Well the just so darn CUTE!
Doug

Wrong! Brook trout aren’t cute. They’re BEAUTIFUL!!

Bill

I just didn’t want it to sound like my girlfriend had gills!
Doug

I do C&R and do it as properly as I can. But, I wish I didn’t have to. I catch a couple of fish on a fly when I first get to the water…and then the word spreads…“hey guys…watch out for the black wooly buggers…they’re out today” and I stop catching fish on that fly. They talk to each other.
