Reminds me of a bad old joke that I wont write here, the punch line was…Your supposed to put the potato in the front.

Eric

Thanks again all. I haven’t been on line for a few days and am suprised at how much activity this this thread gathered-and really appreciate the help.

This might be a good idea for me. I’ve been using super glue for head cement so long that my wife no longer laughs at me when I glue the flies to my fingers.

Guys, please be careful with any solvents ending with “ene”(benzene, toululene, xylene, etc…), they can and will cause nervous system damage if you breathe too much of the vapor. Follow the directions on the can and ONLY use the stuff in well ventilated areas. This stuff is no joke.

One of many such posts and to dispute it would be like voting against motherhood:cool:

I am pretty long in the tooth so I guess I’m either lucky or immune:rolleyes:
:stuck_out_tongue:
I don’t even care if I out live Global Warming.

I don’t doubt the potential danger of the stuff, but I’m not huffing it as kids are rumored to do.

I have, since I first posted, had considerable success with Goop and Toluene to make a very nice jar of flexament. One of the unintended upsides to the Toluene/Goop mix is the lack of odor. Compared to ALOT of the other homemade concoctions as well as store bough solvents and cements, the stuff has practically no scent. My wife can still tell when I’m using it but she doesn’t complain, open doors and windows, just doesn’t seem to care. And that’s HUGE in my house.

At any rate, the stuff works well in alot of ways and my Dahlberg Divers are loving it…

Just remember that toluene is quite volatile and not good for your lungs. I believe it is carcinogenic. It does work well for this application, as previously stated.

Do your mixing in a well ventilated area, and NO SMOKING while you do it.

This thread has been really interesting and quite informative - thank you one and all.
