Off to Rotorua!

Well guys everything has come together and I have managed to organize a day off work on Friday and someone to feed my Cat and my Father in law’s cats over the weekend, So I am off to Rotorua on Friday for a soak in the hotpools and a little bit of fishing, HOORAY! I will even get to use my new Switch rod on the Ohau chanel, will let you know how it goes.
All the best.
Mike.

Mike…

Please remember the camera lol lol

Mike,
Pictures please and hav fun!

Mike, I hear tell that there is a fair bit of movement in the Chanel. Hope your rod suffers from an accute attack of “Bendy Rod Syndrome.” Have Fun. Jax

Thanks guys, I will pack the camera, I should manage at least a couple of hours fishing, my local contact tells me the chanel is fishing fairly hard but I am just looking forward to weting a line and casting my new rod, a fish would be a bonus!
All the best.
Mike.

Well done Mike! Look forward to the report. I’m still deeply stuck into things to get ready for next semester that I have to enjoy the outdoors vicariously through everyone here! Enjoy and tight lines.

Cheers Mike, Have a great time dragging the big ones to the bank. Enjoy your soak. Jim

Pictures would be grand! Enjoy your trip!!!

Hi guys, I am back, have posted a report and some pics on the reports pages, but here is a pic of the Ohau Chanel.

All the best.
Mike.

That photo is breath taking.

Glad you like it Jeffro, here is one looking downstream from just around the corner.

I have to say that I enjoyed the fishing but the Chanel is one of the least “scenic” places to fish in the region.
Some of the spots we fish have vistas of Volcano’s or steaming mud and green bush as a backdrop to the fishing. Due to the Hot bubbling mud and steaming springs in the area it smells like rotten eggs but you get used to it pretty quickly.
All the best.
Mike.
