I guess the good news was his wife was not a NRA member or figured he was a better reclamation project that most. Just another fairly young guy yielding to temptation and suffering the consequences. The last I heard he had a new good job the monthly deposits are just significantly smaller.
There used to be what appeared to be a office safe and a grocery cart in the Hooch where I fish, being in a suburban area by a bridge, I didn’t think it that strange.
A while back, I saw the front 1/3 of an aluminum canoe, about 20 feet up in tree. It looked like it had been ripped off by the hand of God… But then this was smallmouth stream, so I don’t know if that counts… HA!
years ago while fishing the driftwood branch in NC PA, i saw a mink/martin type animal chasing a chipmunk along the opposite bank, through a maze of tree roots and when the chippy ran out of roots to hide in it jumped in the water and swan across the stream. the mink ran to the edge of the roots and paused a while eyeing the chippy in the water, it must of decided it was too much effort and turned and walked away. wish i had a movie camera to record that, it only lasted about 20 sec but has stuck vividly in my mind for 20 yrs now.
fished the upper fly only water of the salmon river in NY and found a good sized car in a hole, llok to be there a while. had a couple of takes behind it too.
A friend and I were steelhead fishing when he hooked a size 12 Nike Cross Trainer. got it right in the tongue. he thought he foul hooked something and everytime he would reel in it would change the angle of the shoe. in would fill in the current then empty out. he fought that thng for about 10 min before we netted it. I had it mounted for him.
I also encountered several years ago a very nymph-like young lady bathing nude in a natural whirlpool bath in the western Elk River in Tennessee.
I respectfully backtracked. I believe she never knew I was there. Maybe not as she later that morning made an offer of fresh brewed coffee to my
brother and I. She was very sweet with a very big dog that appeared as if he would bite your leg off if you made a move on her!
I had another encounter on that same trip that no one seems to believe, so I won’t tell it.
A few years back while fly fishing on the Truckee River I run into a big fat naked spin fisherman fishing the same hole as I am. Caught a nice trout that started running down stream to where he is fishing. Never moved and eventually lost it. I’m standing in the river as he passes by on the bank and nod hello. He tells me to watch out because there are some weird people from San Francisco fishing here. OOOkay??? Spin fishermen, you never know.
Not a trout stream, but there is a bridge here locally that the county dive team used to dive below on a regular basis to retrieve cash registers. They managed to pull prints off of some. Not sure they ever got a conviction though.
I wish I had the picture you need in Ashe county there is a.salvage yard that has stacked cars beside the stream as a earth enforcement it is odd as hell to drive by it and see all those cars front ends and headlights looking at you!
Thursday of this week I was riding with my friend in the Sierras of eastern California. We had been fishing Bishop creek just below Lake Sabrina. The tree colors were astounding and I had depleted the batteries in my camera shooting scenery. There is some construction on Lake Sabina road and it is one lane with a timed signal light. Right below the construction is a campground next to North Lake road. There was a deer standing in the road staring at us for a few seconds then she walked into the trees on my side of the truck. I turned on my cell phone camera and tried to take pictures of her as she walked. I was getting frustrated because of the slowness of the 2MP camera when she stopped in the trees and turned toward me and just posed. Mike stopped and backed up so I could snap a few pics. Even with all the time I had and the 6 pictures I took only 2 turned out ok and only one has the deer visible. It’s kinda like “Where’s Waldo?”
