October Caddis Softhackle

October Caddis Softhackle

A minor change to one I found on the interweb - added the aftershaft thorax for a bit more buggieness; gonna change the tag to copper tinsel on the next one.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - UTC 70 burnt orange
tag/rib - medium wire copper
abdomen - dubbing rusty orange
thorax - aftershaft dyed orange (1 Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange/1 cup water)
hackle - sharptail grouse

October Caddis Softhackle II

The sharptail hackle was a bit underwhelming; switched to pheasant rump and sandwiched it between wraps of the aftershaft.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - UTC 70 burnt orange
tag - tinsel copper
rib - medium wire copper
abdomen - dubbing rusty orange
thorax - aftershaft dyed orange (1 Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange/1 cup water)
hackle - pheasant rump dyed brown

October Caddis Softhackle III

Switched to a different hook, body, collar and rib - the medium wire is a bit stiff to manipulate on smaller flies; the twisted stuff is about the same thickness but a lot more flexible

hook - Maruto 7989 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 brown
tag - medium tinsel copper
rib - brassie wire copper (doubled/twisted)
abdomen - dubbing rusty orange/Ice Dub rust
thorax - aftershaft dyed orange (1 Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange/1 cup water)
shoulder - pheasant rump dyed brown
collar - aftershaft dyed brown

Scott
