October 2015 SOTM

I guess I’m up for this month. I would like to see YOUR favorites- favorites to tie, to fish or just one you have always wanted to tie and haven’t gotten around to. Please share the backstory if you have one.
One of my favorites is Skip Morris’ Gabriel’s Trumpet. It was the first nymph that I really felt like I tied well. I gained confidence from tying it and so it is my pick to tie for you this month. Luke

When I was a boy growing up in the Pacific Northwest my dad was a dry fly fisherman. His favorite fly was a simple and effective trout fly. It was also the first fly I ever tied. Simple and proven.

Do we have 8 folks in the swap now?

I just tie the 12 and extras go to the host, or in some cases make an extra set for those lost in the mail.

Hope so Rick. I cheaped out and only sent 8 to the Captain for August! I ran out of dumbell eyes and didn’t want to put it off any longer than I already had.

Yes, I believe that is correct. Eight participants. I have always liked the Stimulator. I found and modified a version called the Crystal Stimulator, so I will tie you my version, probably in olive. It’s a great floater for a dry dropper rig, good as a Yellow Sally or large Caddis and also a good grasshopper in larger sizes.

Flies tied and will be in the post office today!

Just opened a good looking batch from Icemanxxxv!

Flies are done and will be in the mail tomorrow.

Just got Z’s Onlys. Very nice!

Gmac209’s arrived yesterday evening and they look like some winners! I’m going to sneak one away and test it out in Northern Illinois next week.

Hey Luke, Flies are tied tagged packed and on the way for October Swap !

Great looking bunch of flies Paddy!

jwb1977 let me know he’s stilll in, so it’s down to him and me to finish up. I’m not quite half done.

I’ll have them shipped as soon as the last set gets here.

jwb1977’s just arrived. Nice ties all. I will try to sort them this evening. Hopeful to drop them in the post tomorrow, but with the forcast here I may be busy the next few days. Temps plummeting and rain-ice-snow.

All packed and ready to go out Monday. Luke

Gentlemen, the flies are on their way. Sending pm’s with tracking #'s. Luke

Got some nice flies in.
