Sometimes fly guys and gals take this stuff way to seriously. Reading the overlaoding thread made me laugh, sorry, I did laugh at your expense, but it was priceless.
as the original poster of the aforementioned thread, I’m actually shocked at whats going on with it!! I meant to ask a simple question, not bring out the devil in all of us. There sure are some strong minded people here huh?? I feel like a troublemaker now. I hope I’m not going to get banned for all of this rebel rousing

It was a good question, it really was. And I would advise you to try different line weights, weighing the benefits and consequences of each, and go with what fits your needs most favorably. It isn’t rocket surgery, and if you have a rod that can’t handle overlining by one or two weights, the rod was a piece of crap to start with, IMO.
Yes I agree,and Is why stated that I had not planned on even opening the thread and looking…It has been discussed on this fourm many times…and at times has seemed to turn into a witch hunt of sorts.
I did get a bit of a chuckle myself. I wonder sometimes where a good old fisherman like me that enjoys tying a few feathers on a hook fixing it to the end of some string on a long stick and tricking a trout to eating it fits into this group? lol…lol.
But I tell ya I sure have fun and enjoy doing it.

It’s all personal preference, as it should be–sometimes we find that peice of equipment or a technique that fits us perfectly. when you do, who cares what anyone else thinks?
Yes they go way over board some times. I could not even get thought the whole post.

That’s the one good thing I suppose, for the most part threads are informative, seldom do they get hot and heavy and usually if they do, the damage is mild at best.
The thread isn’t bad by most measures, it just took a side path and got lost, LOL.
Saddly I’ve seen much MUCH worse on here…that was totally mild…Guy’s have left and not come back over less…Sad…But i have seen posts where that has been the outcome…
Spinfly, FAOL is better than most, no worst than the rest, and for me personally has been my favourite site since 2001. As anglers we all go about fly fishing in our own unigue way. As tyflier already pointed out sometimes the degree of difficulty in understanding or interpreting a post is tough, If you forget your" " or " " in a post, it can easily be taken for something other than it’s intended purpose. Now in an atmosphere where the norm is to be insulting, degrating and slapshot each other up side the skull with some well lit, ignitable words, well I guess the " " is not needed, 
. But labeling people via there choice of words on a B. Board can hardly be called accurate, Again why? Because you don’t really know them. Sorry Spinfly, I didn’t see the holy people you spoke off, , did see a bit of passion and a few serious tones, but no damage done.

It’s fixed, LOL, when you have a mild dislexia, tyflier and tyeflies is absolute confusion, .
