Your very welcome, I imagine as it relates to the larger picture, It includes other activities such as hunting, fishing, and other methods of harvesting and recreation.

Years back when Greenpeace first began it?s campaign to stop the "harvest? they arrived at what they surmised as a brilliant idea. If we just de-value the pelt, they will not kill the seal. Therefore, they proceeded to spray paint each seal pup a bright orange…that did the trick, no one wanted to buy a spray painted fur coat. The only trouble was the paint made the poor little guys look like Cheeseit?s on the white ice…easy prey for the Polar Bears to see from miles away, the ensuing slaughter was not pretty

It was on the news here today that some woman from the North Eastern USA was offering $16 million USD to our government to help stop the slaughter.

Isn’t it funny what some people will do for a “cute” animal. If they put their money into species at risk, helping the under-employed, homeless etc, etc… it would be a much better cause.

I was gonna post something like that myself, to “test the waters” for public opinion outside of Atlantic Canada, so to speak. Purely out of curiosity.
The seal hunt has been a bone of contention in our province(Newfoundland) for years…mainly because the animal rights activists use half-truths and straight up lies to oppose it and basically slander Newfoundlanders. It has come to the point where the families of sealers have been harassed and threatened and just recently, a letter writing campaign focused on the hospitality industry in our province, has stated that a group “who shall remain nameless” wishes to see the entire island of Newfoundland and it’s people destroyed in a tsunami! Crazy, huh?
So I ask…do these groups actually get as much support as it seems? Or are my suspicions correct and most people outside of the Atlantic provinces of Canada don’t really know that much about what’s going on in our neck of the woods re: the seal hunt protest?

Just out of curiosity

Brad

Brad,

I would be willing to venture that a lot of the people who protest things like the seal hunt wouldn’t be able to survive outside of a city with at least 500,000 people in it. Put them here in Eastern Canada preferably in a remote rural location and let them truely find out where all there nicely packaged food comes from.

Did you actually know that steak comes from a cow ??? Pork chops are from pigs ??? Eggs and wings are from chickens ???

No little Susie and Johnnie our food doesn’t just magically come from the machine that was on Star Trek, it really was a living breathing creature that had to ( quick, cover your ears) die so we could eat.

It’s ok sweetie, i will book you some appointments with a counsellor and all will be ok. Here is your tofu veggie burger with soy and a carrot juice slushie, now go finish watching Bambi.

I truly enjoyed learning the facts about seal hunting and the struggles of the people of Newfoundland. I have kept up with the hunt here in Arkansas via the news and find it very interesting to get someone perspective from the inside. The filth and lies that are reported here in the US are usually report by the vocal minority who don?t have a clue to what is going on in every day America. It?s the people who say they are liberal and care about other but are actually heart set on making this a world where their agendas are crammed down the throats of tax paying citizens (whether it be US or Canadian) who foot their bill for idiotic measures. These people bombarded our news media with Bull Sh*t and the majority of Americans who don?t know what a cow looks like believe this crap. I am an avid hunter and outdoors man and view what you guys do as historic, these practices that have been done for generations and generations are getting smaller and smaller by the year but hopefully we can pass our pastimes to our children and grandchildren.
