9th Annual Northern Ohio Fly tying Expo

Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 9-4. There will be some great tiers present and great educational programs throughout the day. Doughy Joey will have a seat tying this year, so stop by and say hello if you’re in the neighborhood. I may have some treats for those who stop by early enough. I’m thinking of making carrot cake cupcakes for this event, and I’m sure they will go quick.

This year’s Expo will honor Dick Walle who passed away 12-30-10, following a brief illness. Dick was “Mr Soft Hackle,” and will be sorely missed. Dick is the only celebrity fly tier to have tied at every one of Expo events since their inception in 2003. Dick was also a figure to be seen at many of the events of the Great Lakes Council of FFF, and could be found fishing the Holy Water section of the Au Sable River in Michigan where he and his wife Judy own a cabin.

WHOA!..Now Jerry, make that “save two” as I love carrot cake as well, but Doughy needs to bring along a sack/box/crate/bushel of cinnamon rolls for ol’ Mikey too!

Joe, I’ll be there! Surprised and saddened to hear the news about Dick Walle, I didn’t really know him but spoke with him many times over the years as we fished out in front of his place on the Ausable and at the river cleanups.
