North of the River?

Anyone in the KC MO area intrested in getting together and fishing north of the river? I live real close to Smithville Lake Right by Paradisae Point Golf Course. Boat at the marina! Also would like to try some other areas!

I live in Saint Joe and fish all over (smithville for carp all the time) as well as up closer to my neck of the woods as well as a bit south closer to you… check your PM’s and maybe we can make something happen soon.

i live in kcmo, but south of the river, not in “god’s country” i.e. north of the river. one place you definitely need to hit is the hartell conservation area in plattsburg. p.m. me and i’ll give you my cell and we can try and get together some time.

I live in Overland Park, KS, I might like to join you, but I have not been up in that area. I might need some directions to get there, PM me with more info.

I live in Spring Hill, which is both south of the river and on the Kansas side, but you’ve got a lot of good water up there. If my rather unpredictable work schedule allows, I’m always up for a little fishing up your way. Perhaps a mini-fish-in?

yeah I’ve heard about the Hartell Conservation Area. What do you all say Everyone pick three dates post them here and we’ll go on the date that the most can make it. I can’t pick my three dates yet because I need the home calander of events. I do know I’ll be out of town the 5th through the 9th of July.

Hey I’m unemployed… so yall’ name a date and I’ll be there!!! I’ve been fishing away the time at an alarming rate. You know it would be alot of fun to have a belly boat fish-in… just a thought.

Steve

I’m off Thursday Friday Saturday. I have thiungs to do Thursday and Friday this weekend but maybe Saturday morning we could fish!

I’m there… well actually where will I be… anybody wanna hit Guy B???Maybe yall’ could come a bit farther north and hit Browning with me, wife and i were there on Sunday and had a good day, caught agood hand full of nice gills, she caught a 12 1/2" crappie (I think it was tice that around) and a lone channnel cat about 2 lbs, found a few white bass and as always got into the gar there as well, found some great mulberry trees that are just starting to get really ripe and saw a few big swirls under a cople of the trees but no takers. I reallly don’t care though as long as I get a line wet I’m in.

Steve

Ok so Iceman and I spoke yesterday briefly and we’re gonna go to Browning on Saturday morning to try for some fat gills, huge crappy, maybe a white bass, carp, largemouth, or a gar if you wanna go shoot me a pm and I’ll give you the details.

Steve

So who’s all going to Browning? I say we do Hartell CA next! I called the Area Director for Hartell and inquired about belly boats. He said" As long as your fishing and not swimming it good" So I’ll be out of town from the 5th to the 9th. But will be ready to fish when I get back!

It’s 0445 in the AM and it’s on like Donkey Kong! LOL

it’s 10am and I’m on my way to work:( Good luck guys! Maybe I can get in on the next one. You’ll like browning from the pics Steve’s shown me so far.

Well we pulled out about noon and called it a day, I’vehad better days on Browning but it wasn’t bad. I caught 3-4 gar, a couple nice ones and a couple smaller. Iceman caught 4-5 gar a couple nice ones and a few smaler, 2 of the huge fat thick as a 2x4 bluegill and hooked soemthing that we never saw, we think it might have been a big catfish but it wrapped around a stick and broke off.

Next we conquer Hartell, I know a few of you have been there a few times and my self nor Iceman has ever fished it so we either need a few of you to be there or give us some ideas as to what we need to be slinging.

Pics to come soon as I get back from the farm.

Steve

Had a blast today! Fishing with Steve was fun. Caught my largest ever Blue Gill Hopefully Steve got a pic of it before it flopped back in. I’m not sure what the big fish was but it schooled my 5 pound leaded on a stick. It was a head shaken drag pullin couple of minutes! Caught a few Gar that’s a first for me. Prehistoric fish!

Sounds like you guys had a bit of fun. Let me know as far out as possible on the Hartell get together and I’ll see if I can make it.

Steve : I’ve not fished it either, but Karl Elliot has and could probably give you some tips.

This string is exactly what FAOL is all about. Putting people together, rod in hand, having fun and making friends. Good job you guys. Kudos to JC & Ladyfisher for putting this site together.

Amen to that Lotech.

I was thinking about calling Karl… I have a book he loaned to me about 4-5 tears ago and I really think I need to get it back to him… matter of fact I actually have had it in my cara few tiomes when we were going fishing it just always seems to slip my mind!!! I’ll give ole’ Karl a call this week some time and see what he has to say.
