a have two spools of gudebrod tying thread and several spools of rod winding thread that i use for tying. i dont like it too much. its very thick. i use it on streamers alot though.

I use their 6/0 for most of my tying and their 3/0 for streamers. Not a big fan of Uni-Thread or Danville either.

Thanks. They still have some in town. I am going to buy a bunch before they are sold out.

Kelly, do you have Gudebrod 8/0 and 10/0? I’d like to have several spools of each, if you have the colors I need. Black, brown, olive, yellow, tan, etc.

Also Cabela’s sells Gudebrod and Orvis thread is presently made by Gudebrod.

I haven’t heard IF Gudebrod will still be making thread for Orvis going forward but they are going out of the fly tying business and possibly the fishing business completely. They are still making tying thread because of the amount of orders they’ve received since the announcement.

Gudebrod make all types of thread especially for the medical industry. The fishing end was a small part of their business. The story I’ve been told is that they lost a huge contract from a dental floss manufacturer which has really shaken things up there.

I love their thread especially the 8/0 & 10/0 so I placed a huge order in various colors that should last me for the rest of my life.

If you like the stuff you should consider doing the same…

What’s the story behind this? Are we talking fly tying thread only or is Gudebrod rod winding thread gonzo too?

I have 3/0, 6/0 and 8/0 in many, if not most, colors. These are the 225 yard spools, and I’ll sell them at $1.00 each plus minimal shipping based upon quantity.
