Landed this guy while using a #12 BHPT fishing for bluegill. He put up quite a bit more of a pull on the line than the gills I had been catching all day.

Nice! I had one eat a #12 furled tail mohair leech the other day. It took up all the line I had off the reel pretty quick! Gotta love that pull…
They are a hoot! And I think the little guys are even more fun than the big ones cause they’re way more active fighters.
Nice channel cat. I’ve noticed that I catch a whole lot more catfish since I’ve started fly-fishing exclusively, mainly on Clousers and Buggers. Caught one four years ago that went 28 inches (8lbs plus) on a bamboo rod while fishing for bluegill and one last summer that went 24 inches on a prince nymph that was a dropper tied to a small popper.
