I thought id better introduce myself i have been lurking for a while and not posting sorry for that.
I have been fishing for 3 years and tying for about 2.
The reason i joined the forum was to get to see the kind of things that went on elsewhere as i live a bit of a sheltered life on a small group of islands called shetland.
All my fly fishing is mainly in lochs for wild brown trout and in the tidal waters for seatrout.
I shall try to post from now on i just get a bit a bit bewildered with all the knowledge on here that i feel i may not be able to contribute as much.
I’ve probably been aware of the name of your homeland for most of my life. But your introduction here caused me to take a another look. For others who might be interested, here is a place to start.
Didn’t see any comments about fishing in the wikipedia account, so I guess we’ll have to depend on you !! and no pics to speak of either, so I hope you have a camera and will share some pics of the places you fish and the fish you catch.
A very hardy welcome aboard from a fellow who originally came from just north of London! (I know…that "other " country…G)
I think you’ll add some very interesting perspective to the board. Just try to find anyone else here from the Shetlands… Personally, I think that’s pretty interesting!
Try not to feel overwhelmed with the knowledge here. We are many. Of many differing backgrounds and experiences. Yours is no less interesting. Matter of fact , you just might have some unique input not readily available to most. Yeah! And most interesting too.
Welcome, again, mate. I do think we might have a few Scots who post here from time to time and I’m sure you have found some space on some local boards as well. I’ve read a few Scottish/Irish boards over time.
Jeremy. P.S. I’m not so sure I envy your weather…and I’m from a chilly Minnesota now!
Welcome to FAOL Black Pennel, There are a lot of very knowledgeable people here with a lot to share. As far as your having nothing to give to us, you are far more knowledgeable about fishing the Shetland Isles than most of us. (probably all of us) Give from your strengths and enjoy your time here.
