New Update on My Son

Glad to see your son is getting around, and doing things he enjoys. Tell him I thank him for his service. My son is seriously considering joining the Marines. He graduates this May.

Thanks for the update. I remember the posts from the time. So glad to see it’s all come right in the end. Thanks to you son.

We really do appreciate the great update, and our thanks to all our military no matter when or where you served. Freedom is never free.
Hugs,
LF

I should have posted this while the thread was still hot, but let me bump the thread up again. This is one of my all time favorite short stories from Traver and when I read it I get a little emo. It’s not a long story, so bare with it till the end, that is where the emotion is. It’s worth the feeling.I think it’s relevant.

hairwing,

Read that story many years ago. It’s a classic. You can’t help but get that old lump in your throat! This story has some added meaning to me, because I know I have stood in the very spot that he alludes to in his story. Was lucky enough to fish the Escanaba River for many years while living in the U.P. of Mich. It’s a wonderful place to fish - I miss it!!

Best regards, Dave S.
