If you are a new tyer and relatively new to FAOL, then I will send you a free booklet that will lead you down the path to becoming a better tyer. (Tying great flies, in part, is all about thread and thread control in my opinion)
This 48 page booklet is titled:“How to Choose & Use Fly-tying Threads” 2004 by Paul C. Marriner. This booklet is packed with great tying information and was/is distributed by UNI Products-a company making arguably some of the very best tying threads. These quality glossy booklets are in color and retail for $3.00. Canadian. It is valued at much more to any tyer.
I have four (4) new copies of this booklet and will send them out free of charge to the first 4 new tyers that respond to this post with “I’ll Take One Please!”
I’ve been at this about a year, if that is new enough for you. There aren’t any other tiers in my area, so I’ve been learning by experimentation. The information would be great. Thanks. Let me know.
“I’ll Take One Please!” I’ve been Tying for 6-9 months but still have much to learn. I started with simple streamers but would like to move towards drys this winter, and am still tying to figure out some of the techniques for simple drys.
ckhanna-since you have been tying a while, you don’t technically qualify per my rules. However-I held back one copy and will send it to you. make sure you PM me with your addresses.
I will confirm through PMs later.
Click here to review the requirements for fee booklets if your club president can respond appropriately to Uni Products. Our club got at least 50.

I ran into technical difficulties. I thought that I could use the address block on the back of the booklets and then send them media rate. Well I was informed that the booklet’s address blocks do not conform to a 200 year old USA protocol/format. Drats. Also-media rate does not beat first class mail on booklet-weight items.
Never fear! I bought 1st class stamps and luckily already had manilla envelopes. Five copies have been stamped, sealed and will be posted in Tuesday Morning’s mail.
Everyone should have their booklets by Saturday with the exception of the gentleman in Canada. Have no clue on the delivery time to the Great White North.
I received my envelope today. It looks like a good read for a beginner like me. Thanks again for offering these booklets to some of us beginners! I’m sure my wife will thank you when I start buying all kinds of materials and have them stored throughout the house too!
What a great gesture Rich! I learned few things from you.
I have some of these booklets which I send to a first time buyer of
the Ekich Bobbin. So, for those of you that did not get one, send me your
address and I will ship you a copy. (until they last).
You will find my address at the sponsor page.

Yes I had the booklets and wanted to get the word out on UNI products and the solid technical information on tying threads and tying techniques. My little way of saying thanks to UNI’s founder RIP.
