New Superfine...Sorta

Got a new rod coming! Found a mint condition Late model Superfine. A 7/11 4wt…Original Tube, sock & paperwork. Same generation as my Far-and-Fine & my personal favorite. I watch for them all the time, but never really expect to find one in the condition I’m looking for. YEEHAW!..now I need some new water to christen it on:^)

NJT,

Send that puppy out here to me and I’ll fish some new water for ya. Wouldn’t a nice sea run cutty be a great first fish on that rod? Congrats on the find.

Nice rod.I still have mine that I bought new in 1982.Really sweet rod that probably comes as close to bamboo as graphite gets.

AW man…REE that was not nice! Now I want to be on the OP walking a coastal river! It would be nice to be on some coastal cutts:^)

SkipS… I agree on the action…The line is my favorite by far. I’ve sold or traded away an 8’ Trout, 7.5’ Brook Trout & the 8.5 Henry’s Fork over the years. And I regret each one. I’m working on slowly replacing them as I find them. My brother has the Henry’s Fork and won’t part with it:^( LOL

You all probably know the story, but just in case - the Far and Fine was the first graphite rod made by Orvis. AND it was designed by bamboo expert designed Wes Jordan to have a bamboo action and feel. So there S Trav and I were discussing what I would like to fish evenings on the spring creek, short accurate casts probably nothing over 30 feet. My 5 wt. far and fine is on the short list - has to be a light rod that won’t kill my shoulder. BTW, going to physical therapy tomorrow morning to see if they can/will recommend exercises to strengthen the shoulder(s).
Hugs,
LF

I think he truly nailed a keeper with the design. Now, if Orvis would just bring back the original un-sanded blanks the world would be perfect once more:^)
