I knew Dave Scadden when he was part of the sales staff in a sports shop in Riverdale, UT.
He built a fly rod for me back then. I think it was in about 85-86.
I understand he gave up that job. I have a friend in Phoenix who grew up around Ogden, who told me Dave was who taught him to tye flies. He’s a pretty good tyer.
Dave ended up with three shops. One in Ogden, one in Sugarhouse and one in Sandy. Then 9/11 hit and it hit him harder than expected. He struggled trying to keep all three stores going but realized that his boats where the money. He was also the head designer for Outcast back then and came up with the design of the Super Fat Cat. So if you see a similarity in his boats that is the reason.
