Have you found any new products (or discovered old ones) that change the way you do things at the bench or on the stream?
I got a ārubber leg toolā just before we left for the summer, but I canāt find it now - should be perfect for threading legs through bodies.
I recently got one of Marc Petijeanās CDC stackers. Works quite well!
Dyna-King Dubbing Spin Master. Resisted buying a dedicated device to help with dubbing loops for years, but finally broke down and picked one up. Still undecided if I really like using one, but it sure does make spinning up a dubbing loop faster.
I changed my lighting to a LED bulb and really like itā¦the stand I got is old fashioned but very handy to adjust.
The hell with dubbing now⦠This stuff is pretty slick. Pre-spun dubbing strand, impregnated with CDC preen oil⦠Quick and easy caddis and mayfly bodies. This muskrat gray is a perfect match for the local caddis. I think this is the first new thing I have bothered to use in the last ten or fifteen years, since I fossilized.
Hackle pliers!
I replaced the chair I sit at to tie; didnāt think it was such a big deal, but I was wrong. That, and I found a local (really hate to pay shipping for spools of thread) shop that carries MFC 8/0 thread in colors besides dark brown.
Regards,
Scott
I canāt wade anymore, so I fish from a Step 2 garden bench.
Certainly not new (SORRY) BUT , my handiest tool ever. The āTy-Riteā Little ball point barrel shaped gizmo with a tiny spring loaded hook much like the plastic red and white āstrike indicator/bobberā. Holds your fly/ hook while ā¦whatever.
Marco,
Yep, I agree. I have one of those and they work great!
Larry āsagefisherā
OptiVisor with a #7 plateā¦
Totally agreeā¦I have used oneā¦not this brand ā¦for years so I donāt consider it ānewāā¦but it is a game changerā¦They can be gotten at Harbor Freight for very little $$$$'s.
Lotech,
Liked your two step garden bench. I bought a similar bench several years back and it worked well for gardening etc., but, canāt kneel on the worn out knees anymore. Have to use that old stand by āRear Rumpusā to sit on now or just bend over! Can still wade some but always have my trusty wading staff in hand.
Thanks for the replies
Mark, I have been using these for years as you indicated. Bought my first one from Radio Shack and now have a dozen of them. Good for so many things. I even use one to replace hackle pliers on occasions. Good for you!!
