New online Flyfishing website

Another new fly fishing site. They invite you all to visit and offer any suggestions or ideas for improvement. And the more hits they get the more sponsors they can get too…

I didn’t see much at that site. A book for sale and that WAS IT. There weren’t any articles or fishing information or anything. Was I missing something or is the site so new that those types of things will be added later?

Rick

Hello All,

Firstly, I’d like to thank FAOL for mentioning our magazine. I’m excited to see what you think about it. Here’s a link to the current issue of the magazine. If you like what we put in there, you can subscribe on the home page (link in the original post above) by entering your name and email.

Please let me know what you think.

Tight Lines,

Matt

The pages are too big for my screen…help

Thanks for the link Matt and the nice magazine. Some nice articles are there that I plan on reading when I am not about out the door to go fishing myself. I thought that there might be more available, thanks for pointing the way to the information. I’ll try and leave some more feedback after I actually read some of the articles. I think that I will read the distance article first followed by the rod care article. Those two interest me the most at this point. Rick

Jim,

Are you kidding, what is in it for FAOL? Are they supporting this site,

Sorry dumb question of course they are. Right? Why else would you be sending you kids out to play some where else:D
I am quite sure that I must be missing something here, sure would not be the first time.

Thanks for the link , but I think I will remain here…

I am confused…

Steve

Jim,

Why the link?

Will/dose it help FAOL?

Just curious… I think you have more to do then send your kids some where else to play unless?? Fill in here will ya?

I don’t seem to locate them on the sponsor page , but I probably missed it?
This is really not any of my business, but, there are some very good magazines on the FAOL sponsor page.

I was not going to say anything but this is strange…

Hope all is well…

Steve

ps: my sincere apologies in advance, I feel I am going to need them…
Boy, am I in one nosey mood today…

Some body chime in and shut me up Please..

Steve, they are new and faol is here to help fly fishers find info. No, they are not a sponsor, never will be. If anything, they can only be competition as are all the other web-mags. Sponsors only can spare so many bucks and each new online fly fishing site just cuts the pie in slimmer slices. Lets hope not too many more start up.

I admire the way you play the game…

You are a very kind person!

Steve

Nice mag and like the photography. Pages lay out well on my screen but I’m using a 20: widescreen. Great mag.

Matt,

Nice publication. I was going to write a piece on long distance casting and put it on my website. I have always felt that this type of casting was somewhat different than the small and medium stream work I am used to but your “Going for Distance” article by Al and Gary covers the subject very well. It is much much better than I ever could have accomplished. Based on that article and if the rest of your stuff (haven’t read it all yet) is of that caliber, you’ve got a hit. And yes, I too like the way JC approaches this business. His heart is in fly fishing and getting information to everyone, sometimes to his own expense.

Godspeed,

Bob Bolton

What a nice online magazine. The graphic format is similar to ThisIsFly but I like the content 110% better in Fly Fishing Life. It’s just more suited to my needs. Thanks for putting this up JC. I’ve added the link on our new Forest City Fly Fishing Club website, in the Links pages.

By the way…I had not problem with the “pages”. I have a huge screen but I tested them and they shrink down when I shrink the browser window, so they should work on any size screen.

Great looking magazine.

Some browsers have a problem with some websites and their sizing. Since going to Mozilla’s Firefox I have not had any problems, and it costs nothing to get it, as well all the enhancements that come with it. They also have among the best web security, and frequently alert you to free updates on the base browser and enhancements. I like the “No Pop-Ups” option so I don’t have to see all that advertising. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

This was not a highjacking, but an optional free upgrade to enjoy the new online mag to its fullest. I checked it out and like what I see. Just need the time to read all the content. Thanks, JC. It is in giving that we receive.

Joe

I agree with you about the FireFox browser. That’s what I’ve been using for years now.

Well I thought you all should know Matt has been working with me on the problem…and he is much appreciated.

It has been solved and in case anyone else has trouble here is what happened…

Since I have …Internet Explorer 6…Maxthon…and Firefox installed…I tried each…IE and Maxthon wouldn’t work…Firefox worked but only after it told me to download the latest Adobe Flash Player…
In checking further today I saw there is a newer version of Maxthon…downloaded it and it works like a charm.

Also I’ve gotta tell you I really really liked that article on long distance casting.

Thanks again to JC for the link and also to Matt for his help.

Looks like a magazine and not a discussion board. I hate to say it but I rarely read the articles on here. I just use the discussion forums…sorry.
