Any one have one of these new Hardy reels?

Just looking for opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Bobby:

I have the Cascapedia Mk II 2/3/4 from a few years back when they were still made in the UK and cost WAY more than the latest versions which are made in the Far East but identical I am told.

First off, what do you plan to use it for and what rod to you plan to put it on? They are VERY heavy and wide reels. I use mine on a 7’6" 5wt bamboo which balances out nicely but I would hardly consider it suited for any graphite shorter than a 9’ and the next sizes up would be way too heavy despite their better line capacity.

It is a really sweet reel with a smooth click and drag although for the kind of fishing I use mine for, I doubt I’ll ever utilize the drag. If I was you I would try REALLY hard to get to see one before buying.

Sorry I can’t help much more than that.

Thanks for the input Bamboozle!

I have handled one and I will agree, they are most heavy for their size.

I plan on using it with a Jim Beasley 7 1/2’ Perfectionist bamboo rod and possibly an Edwards Special 8’ bamboo, and…

I have ordered one all ready, the very same 2/3/4. The price was so tempting I couldn’t pass on it.

You are correct, they are produced in Korea; however, the build is excellent.
It is an eye-popping reel.

I think you will be pleased with it on either of the rods you mentioned and just an FYI; it will easily hold a DT5 and some backing with no problem so it is hardly a 2/3/4 only reel.

They are very pretty reels!!

Enjoy!
