New England fishing next week?

Anyone been fishing the deerfield in Northwestern Mass or the Furnace Brook in Vermont ? Will be out there next week and was wondering how the fishing has been or is now.
Thanks in Advance
Tom

Have not been out recently, but the deerfield usually is a good bet this time of year. Its a tailwater and has scheduled releases so that you should have decent temps and good flow. Timing is usually such that the upper deerfield works in the AM and late PM with the middle time slot having a release that can raise the flow. Good flows are 400 cfm or less, though some local guides who I trust love the heavier flows.

Good luck and leave some fish for me.

This might help if you don’t know the river.

and for the flows, go to http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?01168500
Note the flows this week are rising at about 1~2 PM this is about 2~3 hours after the actual release at the fife brook dam. This should give you until about 10:00 to fish without having issues with the releases. Do be careful because the release comes up faster than one expects and while it rarely harms anyone there have been more than a few fishermen caught on the wrong side of the river. It can be a long walk to a bridge or other crossing point.
