I didn’t know it was up and running. I tried again just about 1 minute ago and got a message that said the connection timed out.
I have found that you need to access the Chat Room from the BB Header Chat Button. If trying to access from the FOAL Home Page you get the Timed Out notice. If you try to update your profile on the chat room nothing happens.

That seemed to work, but I’m going to have to get used to an all new format.

I tried to get into it twice, and it froze my computer each time so I had to kill the computer twice. Don’t think I will be trying that again. Maybe when I get back from the hospital (new right knee) all the bugs will be worked out and I will be able to access it. See you all next Friday or so.

I am really hoping that today’s chat room is a placeholder until something better comes along. Several of us in there right now, and the dislike is palpable. On the other hand, it hasn’t flash-crashed on me. Yet.
I haven’t been in the chat room since the function that allowed you to see who was chatting pryor to entering the room was taken away.
I didnt use the chat room that much, but it was a nice option.
That’s because it isn’t flash based, its a PHP script. It really is bad though. Time stamps are all wrong for one, layout is terrible. The best chat room was still the one from about 10 years ago…
EDIT: BIGGEST gripe…the chat is NOT real time! It refreshes every 5 seconds. Pretty unusable. You won’t find me in there anymore.
I’m with DUB on this; it saves time…etc… when you know who, if anyone, is in the room. I don’t think I will go back until I see this function.
We’re still trying to find one that fills our requirements (and yours too) please give us a little slack, there are some tough requirements just for what kind of a server we need to run the chat you/we want, plus the one we’ve had for some time had deteriorated over time and unfortunately it was one we paid for…we will get it done, hang in there.

It’s better than no chat. I don’t use it much but I do know there would be just as many complaints if not more without it.
