I’m sure JC will jump in here with a “where have you been?” deal, that there have been plans buried in the archives here all along. Never been much for the “art” of nets until I ran across a guy at the Great Waters show in Minneapolis, and now I’m intrigued. Any idea of finding good plans to build a wooden net? Thanks. JGW
Thanks. Looks like a good article. How’s Kearny? Haven’t been through there in years. I was fly fishing for bass along the Interstate and dinner was looking pretty good until a Game and Fish guy gave me the option of releasing the 14.5 in. bass or paying a large fine. I ended up eating at the Holiday Inn or whatever the motel was on the corner. Before I had a sleep mask, too. JGW
Thanks for the link gomets(hard for a Cardinal fan to write that
) I lost that link when I had my Bi-Annual computer crash.
And I have a Kearney story also…I taught there for a year a looooong time ago in a gala…nevermind) Went back last summer and was amazed at the changes. Nice place you’ve got there. To anyone else traveling on I-80, those Interstate lakes in Nebraska are wonderful Bass hatcheries. Get outa your cars and take a break from your harried driving and fish them. They are public water and prime habitat for ole bucketmouth.
I’m happy to hear they’re still good fishing ponds. There were several of them right along the interstate and also a park of some sort. And, it was a wonderful way to break up a drive. For me it was like letting the kids go to a playground. JGW
I love the I-80 lakes, easy in & out with lots of fish. I have my choice of about 10 ponds within a 15 mile radius. Even have stocked trout in the Windmill pond, East of Kearney at the Gibbon exit on I-80, first big lake after you enter the park. I hope our Game & Parks guy was nice to you, I know who it probably was and he is a good guy. Cardinals fans are OK, was always treated good when we used to go to St. Louis for a Mets-Card game just hard to get a good seat! Now it’s more conveinient to travel to Denver for a game
For traveling anglers across Nebraska here is a click for [url=http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/fishing/guides/fishguide/FGwaters.asp:5ff24]Nebraska Game & Parks Public water[/url:5ff24] When searching choose an area ie… Panhandle look for the lakes on I-80. Cannot click the I-80 search anymore it doesn’t work. There are I-80 lakes starting at Grand Island going west all the way to the border, most of them are easy to get to right off the interstate lots of bass & bluegill. There are even a couple that are at the rest areas, Kearney Eastbound & Westbound rest area each have a lake. & I believe Grand Island Eastbound has a lake
