I am restoring a vintage (1956 ) fiberglass spincast rod for a friend. Due to the reel seat being offset for a closed face spincast reel, the line guides are set very close to the blank unlike more modern spinning rods using open face reels. He wanted to upgrade to ceramic guides. I got with Ron and Russ at H&H and they spent a fair amount of time matching up the sizes of the original guides with different ceramic fly rod stripper guides and a tip top. I received these components three working days later by priority mail. They are a very good match to the originals, and besides being fly rod guides, they are sized by metric dimensions. The guys at H&H are A-1 in my book, and will always be the first ones I call if what I want is remotely in their baliwick…
I’m sure I’ll eventually come up with something that’s not their bag, but haven’t yet.
