Need recommendation for Rogue River Oregon guide

I will be visiting relatives in Grants Pass Oregon Sept 8-10 (arriving late 9/7 at Medford), and my cousin wants to attempt to catch a salmon on a fly rod one of those days. We fly fished with a guide on the Rogue last year for steelhead, but he was pretty much useless (bait & hardware guide), and we will not use him again (he asked for the fly off my tippet at the end of the trip so he could use it for the next day’s trip  ). We did a half day trip and never landed a fish, and the hookups were almost non-existent.

To that end, I would like recommendations anyone might have for a fly fishing guide with a drift boat. Not sure if we’ll do a 1/2 day or full day trip as of yet. Pretty much will be determined by “She who must be obeyed” who will be along on this trip. Please PM me or e-mail at flyfishohio@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Joe

Dave Roberts or Steve Godshall are both excellent Rogue River (fly) fishing guides. Call as early as you can, both stay pretty booked all season.

I will second Dave Roberts. I have met him, and he is the most pleasent guy Ive ever met. Besides hes a Marine and likes Boo

Have a chat with Drake at Tututun lodge on the Rogue (I think thats the one). Young, entheusiastic, and one hell of a angler. Lots of fun on the river. I fished with him here in NZ a few years back. A real nice guy.

Thanks to all. This is a good start, and hopefully I’ll have a booking very soon. How about that referral from Chris in New Zealand for an Oregon River? Ya gotta love the Internet.
