I’m trying to help out a guy I work with, ID an old fly rod. It’s an 8’ Blue Eagle “Beaverkill” made by U.S. Tackle Corp ~ Japan. It appears to be fiberglass. His question is what weight fly line to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you can just try a 6 weight and see how it loads at about 35-40 feet. If it seems too slow, go to a 5 weight, and so on.
