I have some Holo Flash UTC brand on spools like thread and it’s fine at first, but once you get down say half way it curls so bad it is almost unusable. So does anyone here know how to get it back straight again?
Skip, I guess it depends on the application. I use mine soley for flashback on nymphs (works great by the way) so the curling isn’t a problem. If using the material long as an accent or something in a streamer tail and you need it straight then try pulling a bit out from the spool and slowly pulling it through your fingers giving it a “little” stretch, this has worked for me in the past.
Good luck.
Try running it between your thumb and a scissor blade with the scissors on the outside of the curve. Use very light pressure or you’ll really curl it the other way. Like curling the ribbon on a Christmas package.
im not to sure but i would try pinning it down between 2 points keeping it straight then using a hair dryer to heat it up a bit then let it cool and see if its straight.
Thanks guys I will give it a try. I am using it as flash on tails so the curl is okay if slight, but once it gets down on the spool a bit it’s way too much.
Now that may be a great idea and when I get to try it I will let everyone know what I find out. It may be several days at least as I have a lot of work to do first.
Well I told you guys I would come back and tell what I found for this problem. I had another guy tell me to cut it in like 10" lengths and place it in a very large book over night. Well I tried it and to my surprise it worked well enough and was easy to do.
