Found a nice small lake with crappie…still water for the most part. Not to familiar with the flies used for them just looking for a suggestion that might work.
THanks,

How about Al Campbell’s Crappie Candy
Seek and ye shall find.
Thanks…I will give it a try.
I also have good luck with Carter’s Sculpin tied in bright colors. Very similar to Crappie Candy.

I’ll second the Crappie Candy. This is my go to fly for crappies. I also like Clouser minnows tied on smaller hook sizes, like those you would use for Crappie Candy.

When I first read this post’s title, I thought, I’ll send him some of my hand tied
flies if he wants a simple crappy fly.
Then I re-read it.
Nevermind
Every crappie I caught in the last ten years was on an olive woolly bugger. Works great.
Check out the Panfish column by Rick Z… he had a two-part series with his favorite crappie flies. Definitely worth checking out!
If you’re a tyer look up the Panhandler in the archieves of the FOW. That and a Hare n Copper accounted for 95 percent of my crappies last year. I bring the herls back past the end of hte hook, though, rather than cutting them short as shown. JGW
I have good luck with Zonkers.
