Natural seal

Where can I buy natural seal dubbing in assorted colors? I bought some many years ago and right from the start it was so old and dried out that the fibers broke as soon as I touched it. Thanks

I did a google search for Seal dubbing and came up with this site http://www.bearlodgeangler.com/index.htm.[/url:4ca47] I usely take a trip to Victoria Canada (because of the wife like going there about once a year) and pick some up at the local fly shop.

Hello Ray,

I get all my seal fur dubbing from Jim Smith in England: http://wetfly.co.uk/.[/url:27808]

He has lots of colors. Jim sells them in 10 bag and 20 bag sets. Excellent price and superb quality.

While at his website, check out some of his other items as well.

Cheers,
Richard

is a canadain site that seems to have good prices and cheaper shipping than the UK sites. Not ordered from it -so cannot attest to how good this is-but planning an order soon.

That’s Jim Smith, and his seal is top notch. Besides, he’s a great person to do business with. Highly recommended!

I gotta second Biot Midge, Ron Taylor(Fishermans Feathers) is one of the best to do business with. Although I live relatively close to him, all my orders are by mail. I have not met Ron yet, but gotta say you WILL NOT be disappointed with the quality. Top-notch stuff at a realistic price! If calling him from overseas, don’t ask him how well his birds are doing… will cost u a fortune, LOL!
Look forward to meeting him before the end of our season!
Andy

As featured in Trout Fisherman, UK, Jan 2005! I’d still rather be fishin’!!

Ray,
You might want to try this : WWW.FEATHER_CRAFT.COM[/url:ecfaf] . Ed has some in stock and it won’t break the bank.
Take care, Jim

Hello Martin,

Welcome to our friend from Holland! Now Hans won’t feel so lonely here .

ANd thank you for the correction. I know it is Jim Smith, but had Hatch on the mind for some reason.

Nonetheless, Jim Smith has nice seal fur dubbing .

Cheers,
Richard
Still in Texas

Is the Feathercraft stuff the same stuff?

Ducksterman,
I have some in my hands, It looks like the real stuff, It might have some finer fur in it to help it dub a little easier, but it’s pretty wirery too. Looks good to me.
