Natives and Streambreds

This’ll be quick

Decided to take a few hours and follow up on a reco of a little brookie blue line; beautiful day and the bit of rain we had recently hopefully put some water back in the streams.

over the river

and through the woods

first stop, old stomping grounds, where the brown trout grow wild

about 1 minute after this pic I’m pretty much horizontal with green water pouring in - there goes the camera, there goes the cell phone. Did end up with a few fish here, including the biggest brown I’ve ever taken on this water (no kidding; really!!) on a CDC & Elk.
The native stream, just down the road, was beautiful; nothing big but lots of brookies, all lit up. It was a winner.
My wife was pretty cool about me ruining the camera; time to shop for a waterproof.

Regards,
Scott

Sounds like you came out okay with no serious injuries ?? just some bumps and bruises - and a new waterproof camera.

What’s not to like about a day with browns, brookies, and a new camera ??

Looks like fall ( not falling ) is in the offing.

Two days in a bag of white rice and the Canon is back in business

Still gonna look for a waterproof but at least the wife gets her camera back.

Scott

Scott, glad to hear all is well… and you saved the camera… VA. mountain trout streams are beautiful… nice report.

Welcome to the horizontal in the water club. I am glad your damages were limited to equipment. I notice the other day one of the new Motorola smart phones is now water resistant (I originally wrote waterproof but remembered some of my colleagues say the only thing “proof” comes out of a bottle.)
