sorry i cannot post pictures but i can give you the pattern. A guy taughtme how to tie this it was one of my first flies. I still tie it today but I never got the name of it. I’m not sure if it is something he made up or is a pattern a lot of people know.
Description: Streamer
Bead Chain eyes
braided mylar body
the wing is squirrel tail over black krystal flash
You realize w/o a picture it is damn near impossible to answer this question. It sounds something like a steelhead pattern called the “Boss” but not exactly.
Seriously, as you suggested…it could be or not be an established pattern. But then, nothing lends it’s self more to modification than the lowly streamer…sometimes to such an extreme point that you can call it anything you want.
Case in point…after stumbling on a link a few days a go dealing with micro-streamers, I tied this out of proportion little monstrosity.
A bad pic but what classic pattern is this #14 streamer based on?
Yes of course…only difference from the norm… floss for the tail, wild fox hair for the wing,
and added floss for gills.
If we had a pic WWFF’s streamer the mystery would be solved.
Since he can’t do that…the mystery and speculation continues…entertaining, but not answering his question.
okay, i see i need a pic. If anyone with a good camera would like to take a pic for me, i’ll send you a fly that you keep. You must be in the U.S. PM me if you would like to.
Not every fly needs to have a name
I don’t know about you guys, but I rarely follow recipes, a least after the first couple
If I named every fly in my boxes that wasn’t a copy of someone elses work, well that would be… stupid.
when pic is posted please give me your input. Do you thing something is wrong etc. I ran out of black krystal flash so the one posted will have a slightlydifferent black flash.
