i was given several tools, and these two i dont kno what they are. one is labeled MAT CLIP (top) and the other was not labeled but apears to be a big scoop of some sort. im guessing the mat clip is a material clip that clips onto the cam of you vise to hold stuff down. but i have no idea. heres pics.
the top one I have no idea, but your assumption seems logical…even if it isn’t the intended purpose, it will probably work for that. The bottom one looks like a trimed back shoe-horn! Outside of picking up ridiculous numbers of beads, I’m stumped :?
Hi,
The clip is a gadget that goes on the vise and holds material out of the way, much like the springs you see on some vises. The bottom gadget is an open deer hair stacker. It can be used for large parcels of deer hair.
Yep, the top is a material clip, the large end clips on to the vise and the small end holds materials back out of the way. The bottom is a hair stacker, I would like to find one like that. Like Sweet said, it works on large quantities of hair.
Caddisfly
two weight…you can have this one. i have no use for it. PM me with your address
I am familiar with both tools.
The top one is indeed a material clip. It gets clipped onto you vice (large end goes over vice shaft or horiz. arm) the small end is for temporarily storing the loose end of materials (such as ribbing)to hold them out of the way while tying.
The bottom picture is a type of hair stacker. Hair is clipped from the hide, stripped of under fur and placed in the device with the butts towards the curved end. Then the device is held at about a 45 degree angle and tapped against your table top. Good for proccessing large quantities if hair, somewhat overkill for small flies. For production tying the stacked hair can be placed in a binder clip and single fly portions can be pulled out w/o disturbing the stash.
