My Zebra Midge

This one has sure been working for me…
Hook size 16-20

Looks good. Lets see now is that a thread body fine wire rib, goose biots and black bead head? If not how bout a recipe

Correct on everything, this one has been fished hard. I’ve been Putting several coats of Sally Hansons hard as nails on them to make them last & glaze them up, seems to work very well…
This one midge has caught 25 fish and still looks good.

cool and it looks like I might need to tie up a few of these in sz. 20

I just started tying a couple weeks ago, like it very well! I tied one up that was orange with silver ribbing wire, and put some flash dubbing around the neck, minus the wing and the tail. I used it and caught fish all day. Ill have to gives yours a try, looks awesome!! Thanks:tieone:

I like that a lot. I tie and fish a ton of those without the biots, I will have to give that a try. One thing I do that you might try on yours is to take a single strand of pearl flashabou, and counter-wrap it under the wire. I seem to do better on midges I’ve put the flashabou on than on those I haven’t.

A nice wee flee there:D

Body black thread ribbed with black wire, white goose biots for tail and legs, over-sized black thread head and 3 coats of Sally Hansen. Am I correct? What other colors work for you?

That’s silver wire… Here’s another one that works well in the spring, I have no idea why!

A Ruby midge
Hook 16-20 mainly 18’s
A deep Ruby colored body, I used Christmas ribon then Sally Hansen 3 coats then rap a #4 thead for the rib to the head.
This one has caught a lot of fish, with the heavy #4 thead it will start to frey from heavy use and trout teeth, gives it a ever so light dubbing look.

Very nice.

The trout will be queuing up to take that.

There are several well known guides who do just that - although they will vehemently deny it, when asked.
