My weekend fishing partner

Hi Betty !!
How did your partner do ? Far as I know he fishes for a living, not for fun. I hope you got to watch him at it. When I was in college, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, I used to watch them on Klamath Lake for hours.
Fine fishermen, and not baitslingers either…
And how did you do, I might ask…ModocDan

Betty,
He looks like a pretty serious fisherman to me. I bet he (or she???) made it look easy.

Jeff

Betty,

I hope your husband is not the jealous type.

Nothing better than being in the great outdoors. I hope you had a great time.

What a beautiful bird

Being from Kansas, I don’t have the opportunity to see such marvelous birds on a regular basis. I am in total ah of them. A good number of them roost in Southern Missouri each winter, and are frequent visitors to the river. I could sit for hours and watch them soar above the tree tops, or swoop down and most handily pluck a rainbow from the waters. Never seems to fail that when I’m looking at them with binoculars, their eyes are fixed right on me. And it still amazes me that for such a huge, powerful bird, their song is very soft, sweet and melodious.

They are beautiful birds indeed! We have a nesting couple just south of our house here along the Susquehanna River. Glad they put on a good show for you, Betty.

Very nice pic, Betty! They are so awesome to see. We’ve been experiencing a resurgence of them, in NY, and it’s awesome to see how well they’ve done. In years past, you’d be extremely lucky to see one, now they’ve become a bit more common.

I saw a Golden Eagle, down in PA several years ago, which was also an amazing site. I really need a camera.

Betty,
Thanks for the picture. I have yet to see a bald eagle in the wild, & pray that I have my camera with me when I do. They are just such a majestic bird.

Nice shot Betty,
Every year around Jan 1, the Bald Eagles congregate around Lake Couer d’ Alene ( core-duh-lane )in northern Idaho. You can see hundreds of them taking kokanee off the surface of the lake while they’re on the wing. I guess that qualifies them a dry fly fishers. It’s a great sight to watch.

Betty,
A Bald Eagle dived down between my Nephew and I while float tubing and that was a memorable experience!
Ospreys are better fish catchers, but Bald Eagles are very beautiful!
Glad someone was keeping a eye on you!
Doug

wow, Betty! nifty photo! now that these birds are back from the brink 1) you can actually see them occasionally on the National Mall in front of the Capitol Building in Washington (is that cool or what!), and 2) our friends in Montana are beside themselves with rage when the local mama cleans out that carefully stocked pond before the sports get to it!

Betty,
Head over to Lawrence some weekend.(Check to make sure it isnt a game day , that place is murder trying to get around in when K.U is playing).
Get off I-70 at the first exit , turn left. Go to the bridge , turn left when you cross the bridge.
Go to the mall right next to City Hall . Its at the North end of Mass. St. Last I knew the place was’nt doing too well  . Poetic justice if true.
There are usually eagles hanging around there in the winter. They like to fish just below the dam.Especially if the winter is hard.
Good luck birding.
Perch

This is just a guess but I bet your partner doesn’t believe in catch and release. Or limits either for that matter. :? Nice bird , great pic.

Hi Betty; I Used to watch a pair fishing for Bass on a lake in South Africa and have to admit. They did a lot better than I did.

Great to see them as nature intended. Jax

Gives a whole new meaning to “fly fishing.”

TT

Nice!

Z,
Tell Lady I said hello. Merry Christmas to both you and your fishing partner. I’m looking forward to next Spring!

I have spent a lot of time in the outdoor’s, growiing up and threw the years and had never seen one ( like Ohiotuber) in the wild, it was not until last year, visiting up north in MD (of all places lol) standing out back on a boulconi of a third floor apartment, that I saw my first one, it was awsome to see it, there was wet swampy land behind the apartments and there he was floating along in the air. I didn’t get a photo, but sure am glad you did, thank you for letting us see it…
