Hi,
Trying some of these tiny ones on pupa style hooks. Think this works?
or this PMD?

Works for me. That fly would work great where I fish along the Sonora pass. Nice tie.
Byron,
Beautiful; you’ve got that pattern nailed. You could give Craig a run for his money.

Scott
That smallest one is a triumph. I like those deer hair wings. I wish you could get a scud-shaped hook with slightly lighter wire. Which one is that?
Bryon
Beautiful ties.
Great Ties Byron,
Have you tried the Varivas 2200 hooks, 2X fine?
Top is a size 18 Varivas 2200
Bottom is a size 16 TMC 2487
What size hooks are those, Byron? I’ve been tying my fall BWO in 20-22, although I think the PMD would run larger here.
LEBENGEEK: Nice looking bend on that Varivas.

Yes, the wire is heavier than I would prefer. I believe they are #135 dai riki hooks

The Dai-Riki 125 has a similar shape. It is a straight eye 2X short hook which is lighter wire than the typical scud hook.
John
… Dai-Riki 135s to me. It is a downeye 1X heavy 1X short scud hook.
The Dai-Riki 125 is a straighteye 2X short hook in a finer wire with a similar shape.
John
John,
Thanks. Was just going to correct my reply. Yes, #135. Had been tying on #305’s and was mistaken
Nice ties Byron !!!
Another interesting hook decision for really small BWO’s/Baetis is the TMC 2488. Craig Matthews uses it for a number of his small Midges and Baetis:

For me, I am grateful that Tiemco came up with their 16/0 thread… I can NOW actually get those materials on a hook without a huge amount of thread pile up…
PT/TB
Ditto on the 16/0. I’ve been using this thread on everything lately, except flies with a lot of deer or elk hair. No problems at all.
Byron, you have some mad skills. WOW. Gorgeous work.
You folks are so kind. Thanks so much. Just trying to improve.
