This is not fly fishing related …
30+ years ago, my father-in-law built a grandfather clock. 20 years ago, when he died, we brought it to our home. 5 years ago, for inexplicable reasons, after chiming the quarter hours and the hour all those years … it stopped chiming. We had a clock guy come out to fix it, and he said there was no fixing to it; it had lasted far beyond it’s life.
Last Wednesday, after having the port implanted, I customarily wound the clock, like I do every Wednesday, because it keeps perfect time … just no chimes. As I sat down on the couch to recoup, the clock chimed. It continued to chime perfectly, until this morning, when it stopped.
I don’t begin to understand it, but it sure was fun!
