My Nephew Builds Bridges

The bridge is complete. They started last summer.
During the tear down of the old bridge they got
use to seeing a very annoyed trout running in and out
from under the bridge. Any kind of loud sound the trout
would spook out from under the bridge (IT’S HOME) and swim
upstream.

Every morning when they would start construction again the same
thing would happen. My nephew is related to me so when he described
the absolute monster under that bridge on a well traveled road that is frequented by many anglers to include worms guys…

I took it with a grain of salt.

He came up this weekend and took me to that bridge. He took a hammer and hit the bridge railing on the downstream side of the bridge and had me stand at the upstream area where it always spooked out to.

This trout has lived under this bridge for quite some time to get as big as it is. It is NOT a fool either. This bridge gets hammered by spin and fly anglers. The worm crowd fishes right off the bridge in the summer. This large brown must have seen the entire kitchen sink and then some.

This one is going to be difficult to get a photo of.

Any suggestions on tactics and what to throw will be appreciated.

Only one.

Don’t start fishing till at least midnight, as its then the big fish come out to feed, while its safe.

Kind regards,
UB

What UB said! That’s when we fish for big trout in Michigan…when everyone else is asleep!

This is what they look for when feeding; Big Bugs like this Zoo Cougar!

Bring your friend Joe - he seems to have the touch!

Joe works until thursday.
We already talked.

Wish my zoo cougars looked that good, any hints? Also wish i could find my book by kelly galloup.

If anyone is up to the photo challenge you are, so throw a camera to it and post them..

That one with yellow so it will show up better at night?

… or you could use something simple like this pine squirrel streamer.

It’s done very well by me everywhere I’ve fished it on moving water for trout - browns, bows, cutthroat, brookies. And NightAngler ( aka NightAngler1 ) does very well with his version, which is almost identical, down in MO on stillwater.

Fish it off a class II full sinking line with a down and across presentation and move it with short steady strips. If you can’t cast close to where that fish is holding, let out line to let it drift below his position, and then strip it back upstream as close to his position as you can.

P.S. PM me your mailing address and I’ll send along a couple so you can go catch that thing.

A hammer to the bridge a big net

I would use a big, ugly dark bulky looking streamer with some flash in it. I hope you get to net him. I would use a deer hair or sculpin wool head.

Stupid work - gets in the way of fishing every time!

It was sickeningly sunny here all weekend, but today I’m looking longingly out the 8th floor window of the glass prison at a beautifully overcast day with no way to leave.
