My Light Bulbs work in FireFox

I had downloaded IE7 beta so I could have light bulbs and Tabbed Browsing and it works pretty good. But I did get a few empty pages that needed to be refreshed to be able to open. It is a beta version so what can I expect?

I decided to go back to FireFox so I downloaded the latest version and took a look at some of the newer extensions. Here is what I found:

 1. First downloaded and install the latest version of FireFox (1.5.0.4) @ [http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/central/[/url:1dae7]

 2. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/](http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/central/:1dae7) and install the “IE Tab” (1.0.9.5) ? It is advertised to allow viewing web pages in IE format.

 3. Open FireFox and go to http://flyanglersonline.com/[/url:1dae7] Then use the Tools > ?IE Tab Options? pulldown and add http://flyanglersonline.com/[/url:1dae7] to the sites listed to use embedded IE.

 4. Use the Tools > Options > Privacy Tab to set FireFox to ?Allow Sites to set cookies?. Then use the ?Exceptions button to add http://flyanglersonline.com/[/url:1dae7] to the sites allowed to set cookies.

This worked for me. It appears to allow FireFox to open specific tabs using IE and then other tabs using FireFox. It gives you the benefit of both worlds.

Bill,

Great! I did all that and it worked [so far]…thank you…

Funny thing though …now my fonts have changed…I’m pretty sure I can fix that…ain’t computers mystical [G]

Bill,
I did as instructed, & got the light bulbs working ok, but when I went into an FAOL member’s profile (which I often do), I couldn’t close out the profile page without shutting down FAOL. I uninstalled the IE tab & I will live with checking date/time of posts.
Thanks, I tried.
Mike

You can call me Mike & you can call me Mikey…Just remember that this site’s about sharing!

Tuber,

As I said above I too was successful with the lights…and have not had your problem…do you have the tab bar showing?..when I first started FF it wasn’t so I enabled it…at the end of the bar is a red X which when you click it just takes you out of the current tab…e.g. it will take you out of the profile page and put you back to the main FAOL page…off hand I don’t remember where in the bowels of FF I did that but if you don’t find it I’ll hunt it up.

Now for my problem…I wasn’t able to correct the font thing mentioned above…FF is too small for me and … doesn’t seem to accept the changes I enable deep in FF??? and won’t change size under view…

I’m not having any problems at all.

Tuber - I think ducksterman ha the right answer on that one.

ducksterman - Not sure what to say about the font size. I find the same about the view options - no affect in FAOL but I do see some changes on other sites. The view option only lasts while your viewing that site though so it is somewhat useless.

My display settings are set to “1024 X 768” - You might try increasing that option on your Windows display.

I’m thinking that’s not it but will check it out…

I use…IE…Maxthon…Firefox and only Firefox does this…

Those of you that don’t use Firefox because of how it treats FAOL might try Maxthon…actually I think it’s faster [for me] than Firefox…and tabs work well…don’t know if it’s as secure as FF since it’s based on IE…

I suspect this could be moot after the shutdown tonight…
