I love this pattern and have caught large trout to smallies. I just finished tying these for a friend I lost a bet to. Lucky him, not so lucky for the fish.

Wow! Seege, those are some fine looking flies! Wish I could be so lucky to win a bet with you and be on the receiving end of a pile of flies like that. Nice tie; thanks for sharing.
Very Nice!! Rabbit Muddlers??
Doug
what are they called??? they look great though, nice tying!
FIREMAN,
Very nicely done. Would you consider doing a Fly of the Week on those? I’m sure folks would like to see how and what you do.
REE
I wouldnt mind doing that at all. Its not my pattern, its from Hawkins Outfitters of Travers City, MI. Its called “Nutcracker”, Ive just tweeked it to my liking which is basically the colors and some different materials. The smallies I fish for in the midwest seem to have an infinity for yellow. I believe that Orvis also has this pattern for sale too. I tie it unweighted and fish it with a sink tip line and use the Kelly Galloup method to fish it. I also use his sequence for trimming the deer hair.
Who would I talk to about a fly of the week?
Thanks,
Seege

I could use some! Are you willing to lose a bet to me? The catch is that I want some of those flies! They look awesome!!!
very nice flies, good job
Great Seege You always could tie some great flies. I’ll Have to try some at Lake Gage. Water is getting colder and the trout are in the shallow area at the east end. BILL
Bill,
It looks like we might have a chance to wet a line together yet. The family and I are moving back to the Midwest, Fort Wayne that is. I will be joining the club again and will try to be better involved with the activities. Next time I run into you it will probably be at a meeting if you could give me a current schedule. Thanks for sending me announcements and keeping me up to date on what has been going on.
My new thing now is trying to get my hands on a bamboo rod for my smallmouth/trout fishing. I also will probably have my dad and brother fabricate some forms for me this year or early next year.
Take care,
Seege
I’ll just have to talk you into tying that fly at one of our meetings. BILL
Check your PMS
Fireman,
I’ve spun quite a few hair bugs, but I don’t think any of them have ever looked that good. Those are the kind you frame or display on some driftwood in a curio cabinet. VERY NICE!
A lot like a Tabory Snake Fly
That fly was originally designed by the above mentioned Hawkins Outfitters for Michigan trout and steelhead. Its definitely a killer, the thing moves in the water without motion and could be dead drifted as well. When fishing for smallies Ive had the fly just dangling behind me moving to the next spot with fish taken.
Thanks for the compliments,
Seege
I have shot the sequence and will send it to LadyFisher today.
Thanks guys for the encouragement,
Seege
