not anal retentive…it’s obsessive compulsive.
Wes, anal retentive just means that you keep ####. Which we all do.
well since radiation treatment i find being retentive difficult.
look for the Baby Bug Luggage. I tie down to #20 and they hold just fine.
Few years ago I stocked up on Traveling Jewelry Compartment Boxes at Wal mart, cost was 99 cents. The Traveling Jewelry compartmental Box flips open so you have two sides, one is a large single compartment, the other side is divided into three small compartments, and two that art slightly larger.
They all have lids with a snap top for security!
I keep all my smaller flies in these, and they fit into my vest pockets. Available in different colors so you can at a glance know you have the midge box and not the nymph or dry fly box.
I normally place some “Minute Rice” in the single large compartment for storing used flies, the rice absorbs moisture from the fly. Bio-degradable.

I saw the identical Compartment Box at a Fly Shop for $7.99 with the Fly Shop’s Logo stenciled into the lid.
Check out a Hobby Lobby store, they sell “Craft Mates” locking 14 compartment boxes. I use mine for beads and other small products. Great for hooks also. These are approx. 9 1/4 X 4 1/2 X 1 inches in size. Can’t remember the price. I get them when on sale. They also have rounded bottoms like some hook boxes I fasten a cotter pin and brass washer thingie to the one end of the box so I can attach to my vest. I do this to all my fly boxes and it has saved me a lot of money, due to boxes left on a rock or falling out of the vest pocket.
I like the C&F boxes. Bought a couple from Sierra Trading post for less than $20 each. I like good stuff, but like to buy it cheap.

I use the Cabela’s double nubby box in medium for my zebra midges and other nymphs.
I tie them down to a size 18…I can shake the box like crazy or bang in on the counter and the flies stay put.
