My 2wt is Finally Done!

Sarted this project back in January to build the 6’6" 4 Pc 2wt on inspiration by Rick and Joe and their fun with the ultralight rods. I won’t take any close up pictures because I don’t want to embarras anyone with my craftsmanship, or lack of. Just got back from a quick run out during luch to give it a cast and I am very happy that I was able to cast both unweighted nymphs and small jigs(Little more difficult) but I was getting good distance and control. At least good enough for panfish! I can’t wait to catch a fish on this thing!

Greg,

Nice job! I built a 5 piece 7 ft 2wt on a Dancraft blank and love it. Is that a Galvan reel on your 2 wt? How does it balance on such a short/light rod? I ended up using the J Austin Forbes Magnesium which only weighs 2.2oz and it balances perfectly. Anyway, nice job and I’m sure you’ll have loads of fun with your new “toy”.

Wait until you tie into the first feisty gill on it.

Greg,
Joe Valencic built a 6’6" 2pc 2wt for me on a Forecast blank. First fish on it was a wild mountain stream brookie & have caught gills up to 9 1/2" on it. You’re gonna LOVE it! BTW, real nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

It’s a Cabelas Aluminum LSR 1-2 wt reel. Weighs about 4.1 oz and I have it spooled with 25 yds of 20 dacron and 2wt DT Wonderline. Got a great deal on fathers day here at the St. Louis store. Reg 160.00 on sale for 95.00!

It’s a large arbor and has a sweet drag on it.

SWEEEEEEET

Caught both of these this morning with the new rod. Both were hooked on #12 GRHE nymph. The little bass bent the rod all of the way to the grip

Life is good!
