Just received my new Muskoka Vice today. They have there Tomahawk Traveler Combo for sale on there web site for $280.00. It comes with both the regular and midge jaws and a crank arm for rotary tying. The jaws are easy to change and it well made. Also real cool looking. I will post a report after I’ve tied on it.
Dave,
I wonder if the vise is a decedent of the Concorde vise? They were made by a fellow by the name of Brad. Brad got into a big public argument with the owner of Regal Vise. Brad made an attachment which would convert the old Regal to rotary. It was called The Brad Devise. Then, the owner of Regal announced that if you used it, it would negate the warranty on the Regal.
The vise you bought looks a lot like the Concorde Vise.
Byron, I’ve not tied on a Regal but this vice works the same. My main vice is a Renzetti traveler with midge jaws . My home water is the Driftless area spring creeks of southwest Wisconsin and I tie a lot of small flies. The midge jaws that came with the Muskoka vice are small for good clearance around small hooks. It also folds down super small for my travel kit.
Dave,
I was actually saying your vise looks much like a version of the old Concorde Vise, which functioned similar to the Regal as well.
The Magnavise is made in Utah. The guy who came up with the design is named Matt Plott.
