Epo,
Dave is an Orvis man all the way. He likes the brand name on his rod, just like he likes the Polo on his shirt and Victoria’s Secret on his … oh never mind.
I am too cheap to join in this fantasy. I have an 8 wt., splitting the difference and I use it all year long. My solution to the heavier rod is lighter fish. I do not seem to catch the big ones, hardly at all.
How do these multi-tip/head lines hook together between the running line and the head/tip? Does this create a “weak link?” Will the connection go through the guides smoothly? How do you store the heads/tips when not in use?
well, the one i bought, but sent back, had a fifteen foot head with a looop to loop connection that looked as if it would go through the guides smoothly. the heads came in their own wallet. it was actually pretty cool, and i would have kept it if it were and 8 or 9 wt. (and i do think they have nerve marketing a line as a ‘striper line’ in a 7 wt!)
and jed you don’t know how right you are. orvis boston has a 10 ft. 7 wt. trident tls at 50 % off! i’d buy it but i just bought a 10 ft 8 wt. at 50 % off from them last year!
First I thought you were saying how right I was about the Vickie Sly clothing. But then I remembered I said I was not going to tell everyone everything.
Okay Dave. Put the rod down, step away from the rod. Turn around. Start walking away.
You probably have more rods than vices (which is alot) and you still only have two hands. Do you really need another rod, line, reel etc. that is only one wt difference from something in your arsenal. So buy it for me.
